It’s an aftermarket product manufactured Blue Heron Specialty Products LLC., and it’s certified by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) and the American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE).

Customers with verified purchases claim that it will last longer than its OEM counterpart, and potentially handle higher pressures without compromising the purpose of preventing the backflow of water. Keep in mind that the manufacturer warranty on the Febco 765 may be voided if an aftermarket product is used, however a new pressure vacuum breaker is the same cost as two repair kits..

There are some sellers that will advertise the Blue Heron, and then send you a knock off.  So if you do decide to purchase the Blue Heron replacement kit, you should order it from a reputable company like DPL.

FEBCO® 1″ 765 BACKFLOW PREVENTER 905-212

The original manufacturer replacement for the 1″ Febco® 765 Pressure Vacuum Breaker (part #905-212) is the most well-known part to many hardware stores in midwest. It has classically been priced upwards of $40-$60 (which is now slightly under the cost of a whole new Febco® 765 Pressure Vacuum Breaker), and usually has to be replaced yearly. These assemblies break very easily with a freeze or too much water pressure in order to prevent the Febco 765 PVB from sustaining damage.

They do meet the most rigorous inspections by the IAPMO, among others. And they will ensure that you do not void your warranty on your Febco® 765 Pressure Vacuum Breaker.

This is a decent replacement Febco 765 Repair Kit, though you can expect to replace it every year.

YELLOW JACKET 1″ BACKFLOW PREVENTER

The yellow jacket, along with an amber-colored version, are cheaper, and potentially lower-quality variations of the Blue Heron repair kit. They are sold by Sprinkler Warehouse exclusively.

We do know from our conversations with one of Sprinkler Warehouse’s competitors that SW is falsely advertising a different product under the guise of the original Blue Heron. We were showed a product listing that was marketed incredibly well, ranked high in Google, and owned by SW’s competitor, that was taken over by SW with a knock-off version. Apparently SW does not understand how to market and sell high-quality products better than their competition…rather they attempt to bully their competition out of the market and sell cheap junk. We believe that SW is a horrible company that sells shoddy knock-offs.

We do not suggest buying the Yellow Jacket, or any version of the Blue Heron repair kit, from Sprinkler Warehouse.

BLUE HERON 3/4″ BACKFLOW PREVENTER

If you have a 3/4 inch Febco® 765 Pressure Vacuum Breaker, you will need the 3/4 inch Febco 765 Repair Kit. These are less common than the 1 inch, but they do tend to be very prevalent in cities like Mesa and Tuscon, Arizona. Make sure to check which Febco® 765 Pressure Vacuum Breaker you have.

These Febco 765® Replacement Gaskets are designed to fit both the 1 inch Blue Heron and Febco 765® backflow preventer replacement assemblies. These are an exact match, and for under $10, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to add these to your order just to have a spare. I’ve seen these sell for as high as $25 for a kit, so this is a steal.

This is the exact same product and seller as the Febco® 1 inch replacement gaskets, except smaller. Again, make sure you check the size of your Febco® 765 Pressure Vacuum Breaker before ordering.

If you just want to replace your the whole Febco 765® Pressure Vacuum Breaker, this is the best place to purchase it. For less than the cost of 2 OEM Febco 765® backflow preventers, you can replace the entire system. Not a bad deal at all. And again, this is sold through Amazon.
